Shell and Indonesia have a long history dating back over 100 years ago with the discovery of the first oil well in Pangkalan Brandan, North Sumatra.

Shell currently has downstream operations in Indonesia and is recognized as one of the leading companies in the lubricants industry that serves motorists and industrial customers. Shell began operating the Lubricants Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) in Marunda, Bekasi, in 2015, with a capacity of 136 million liters per year. In November 2022, Shell doubled its production capacity to 300 million liters per year.
